As vehicle design becomes increasingly complex, the role of the A-Class Modeler is more critical than ever. Premium brands rely on surfacing specialists to bridge the gap between creative vision and engineering reality, transforming sketches into production-ready masterpieces.

About Job Description

At the intersection of design precision and digital craftsmanship, Bertrandt is seeking an Exterior Designer (CAS Modeler) to contribute to the development of high-performance luxury vehicles in Sant’Agata Bolognese; the heartland of Italian automotive excellence.

This role is embedded within a premium OEM design environment, where surface quality, proportion, and execution are held to the highest standards. The designer will be responsible for translating creative intent into Class-A surfaces, ensuring that every curvature, highlight, and reflection meets production feasibility while preserving the emotional integrity of the design.

Working closely with design studios, engineers, and cross-functional teams, the CAS Modeler acts as a critical bridge between concept sketch and industrial realization.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and refine high-quality Class-A exterior surfaces using CAS tools.

Translate 2D sketches and 3D design proposals into production-ready digital models.

Collaborate with design, engineering, and feasibility teams to ensure technical integration and manufacturability.

Maintain surface continuity, highlight control, and precision modeling standards aligned with luxury automotive benchmarks.

Iterate rapidly across design phases from concept to final release while preserving design intent.

Support design reviews with visual and technical validation of surfaces.

Required Skills & Expertise

Strong expertise in CAS modeling tools (e.g., Autodesk Alias or equivalent).

Deep understanding of Class-A surfacing principles, including curvature continuity (G2/G3), reflections, and quality standards.

Ability to interpret and translate design language into precise surface geometry.

Experience working within automotive OEM or supplier environments.

High attention to detail with a strong sense of aesthetic judgment and proportion.

Effective collaboration and communication within multidisciplinary teams.

Profile & Background

Degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, or related field.

Proven experience in automotive exterior modeling or surfacing.

Portfolio demonstrating high-quality surface development and production understanding.

Passion for luxury performance vehicles and precision design execution.
