NIO Inc., a global leader in premium smart electric vehicles, is looking for a Lead Exterior Designer to join its Global Design Center in Munich.
This role focuses on driving exterior design strategy and execution, aligning brand vision with future mobility trends. The designer will lead creative development across concept cars and production vehicles, ensuring high design quality from early ideation to physical and digital validation.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute exterior design strategies aligned with brand and product vision
Lead trend research and user-focused design direction
Oversee creative development across concept, production, and facelift programs
Ensure design quality control across digital and physical modeling stages
Build design processes and cross-functional collaboration systems
Develop long-term exterior design guidelines and innovation roadmaps
Required Profile
Degree in Automotive / Industrial Design or related field
Strong sketching, 3D visualization, and creative thinking skills
Ability to lead design teams with clear communication and vision
Experience using AI tools for design research and visualization
High sensitivity to form, proportion, and brand identity
